    Excellent location and great design

Breakfast menu is far from excellence + old types of TV-sets in the rooms

    Central to everything

Room was very small but to be expected for room rate on New Years Eve

    Very Clean hotel.

I felt the hotel was let down by the fact that some rooms still do not have plasma/lcd televisions. For the location and price, this was expected.

"Very convenient location, great hotel" (108027752)

Great location at an excellent price. Room was very comfortable and the service impeccable. Parking was available in the underground carpark for a reasonable rate (for Central London!) and the staff were very helpful throughout. Highly recommended

  • 9/10 Ben ( Young couple)

"Had a great time. Would stay again." (107109780)

Great views from top floors. Decent rooms. Great location.

The imagery for this hotel looks a bit like The Sanderson, but reality is that decor looks somewhat dated. The fridge is too small to put anything else in.

Next to the lifts so I could hear them at 6.00 in the morning

    Confortable, clean and quite

Room 1218 was extremely noisy due to air conditioning system malfunction. Moving to a less noisy environment 1018 was obtained easly

"Would stay here again and recommend for others. But, you may be in a bit of a lottery...if you get noisy neighbours it could be a less than restful nights sleep." (3305278017)

    Location...general facilities are excellent.

The soundproofing between the rooms could be better. Could hear next door talking quite clearly and they weren't being noisy. Maybe because it was an adjoining room?

  • 9/10 Anonymous ( Young couple)

    on  December 7, 2006

The facilities were excellent and the staff were really helpful. The view from our room was pretty spectacular as well!

There were some marks on the carpet in our room that we would have thought would have been removed and the layout of the room was slightly awkward in places, due to the pillars in the room.

  • 9/10 Claire ( Young couple)

    from Theale , United Kingdom;GB  on  December 5, 2006

"Highly recommend the hotel for it's modern, clean and efficient feel. Location was superb, and the place felt upmarket but nicely informal (unlike, say, the Ritz)." (99023423)

Good contemporary design, very clean, a fantastic unobtrusive location for central London

The rooms were small, only made a decent size by upgrading.

The Internet connection worked perfectly. The room was perfect. The bars have a very relaxed look where you can really unwind." (3305352271)

"We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at the Cavendish Hotel. Our room and bath were clean, comfy and spacious enough with sufficient mod cons. Furthermore, the staff in the reception area and in the dining room were friendly and efficient. Full English breakfast was included in our stay and the selection and quality of the cold and hot buffet were excellent. No hassles at check-in or check-out. The location of the Cavendish is fantastic, just opposite Fortnum and Mason on the Jermyn side, making it an easy walk to Green Park and Picadilly Circus tube stops and all the wonderful shops and restaurants along the way. Over the past couple of years, I had read several positive reviews of the Cavendish and really wanted to stay there, but after perusing prices at the usual suspects (Orbitz, Travelocity, Expedia, etc.), I didn't think it was within our budget (consider the unkind exchange rate between US dollar and the mighty GB pound). I can't believe we got such a good deal at such a lovely hotel and have to say that booking through Active Hotels couldn't have been easier. If you're looking for a very pleasant experience at a four-star hotel, you really won't go wrong by booking your stay at the Cavendish." (3305340755)

Staff, cleanliness, location and inclusive full English breakfast.

The only negative experience at the hotel was that housekeeping knocked on our door in the morning even though the DND sign was out. Other than that, housekeeping staff was excellent when called.

Rug in room tired, needed good cleaning.

"Room was small and storage facilities were adequate for one night but not longer. Bathroom was equipped for wheelchair use so no bath and taking a shower meant soaking the entire floor. No storage in bathroom for toiletries. Nowhere to put toiletries other than the floor when in the shower." (3305363847)

Location, cleanliness of hotel, helpfulness of staff, big fluffy towels

Small room - no bath. Power points difficult to locate. Expensive bar prices.

    Great location. Efficient staff.

Standard rooms are very cosy and are more suited to a solo business traveller

The rooms despite being small are comfortable, very soft beds, and spotless. Airconditioning is effective. Decor is modern. Sevice and quality of breakfasts excellent. Our one reservation was the absence of a separate shower despite having booked a Superior ensuite." (3305070642)

    Cleanliness and decor.

"I would have liked to have been aware of the different rates between the weekend and weekday prices. But this could have been becasue I overlooked this on the website. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We were very surprised and pleased to have been upgraded for free to an executive room which gave us a large bathroom and well prportioned room that also gave us a panoramic view with the BT tower, Norman Foster's new 'Gherkin' building, London Eye and Big Ben. The location of the hotel is just behind Fortnum and Mason and on the road opposite the Royal Academy. It is a very conveniently located hotel that places you a couple of minutes walk to New bond Street and Picadilly. It was lovely to be able to go back to our rooms at the end of the day to wind down in comfort and relaxation. Would recommend!" (3304989417)

Modern, relaxed and welcoming with attention to detail to interiors to provide a very comfortable ambience.

Rooms were exactly as depicted on website, it is always pot luck when booking online as to the actual room allocated, but in this instance very happy to actually receive the room as stated.

Lift noise, as this room was alongside.

Kippers for breakfast had to be sent back as they were uncooked (had been put under grill from frozen) - however this problem was dealt with efficiently." (3304950134)

"I used to stay many times at the Cavendish on business trips. I have always liked the excellent location. My wife and I thought your renovations and decoration of the rooms and hotel is very attractive. We also liked the helpful and relaxed atmosphere. A very comfortable and enjoyable stay. I am sure you will be adding some drawer/shelf storage space to the rooms. Again, we thought the mattress is our room was much too soft;we stay in many hotels and this was not the standard we would expect, and we thought this overly soft mattress was disappointing considering the very quality of everything else in your hotel." (3304623831)

Very convenient location and friendly and helpful staff. We liked the new renovated room with tasteful and attractive colours.

It would be helpful to have some drawers in the room. Our room only had hanging space. The mattress is too soft for such a quality hotel.

"I think the hotel could better describe where it is situated. As a traveller from North it took us a further 45 mins in heavy traffic to locate hotel despite having a navigation unit. This is because the hotel is not obvious from Jermyn St when driving (only from Duke St). Penthouse suite was superb. However, on the Sat night my wife had to be taken to hospital in ambulance due to a food allergic reaction from food eaten in a local restaurant. Therefore, we did not spend alot of time in the hotel as my wife was admitted from hospital at 12:30am (sunday Morning). The hotel staff were courteous and the time we actually spent in the hotel was excellent and would definitely consider booking this venue on our next wedding anniversary in May 2007. Many thanks for a memorable 5th wedding anniverary!" (3304620279)

    The service

The basic rooms were not adequate (too small) - we had to upgrade
