"Fine for an overnight stay in transit to or from UK." (108080976)

Fairly close to Ferry terminal and also within walking distance of restaurants etc. in the town. Friendly and courteous staff. Secure parking (for an additional fee). Good breakfast.

Very small and cramped bathroom, with only hand held shower.

"I had a few less than positive reviews about the hotel, but the price and location were compelling. We normally stay in a one star hotel in Calais devoid of any charm. The Metropol was a complete contrast - loads of charm, and wonderfully comfortable rooms situated in a great location. The staff were warm and welcoming and this hotel will definitely be our first choice when booking a hotel in Calais in future." (97467072)

Our rooms had clearly recently been refurbished. They were warm, comfortable and very clean - exactly what we wanted!

"Nice hotel, good stop off point for anybody on long journey into the country. Enetretainment = Bar, tv & snooker so possibly better suited to adults. Would still recommend to families if you are just loking for a place to sleep & have breakfast before getting on with your journey." (107112274)

Short drive to eurotunnel & cite europe. Very friendly staff, nice breakfast. Very clean hotel. Able to park opposite reception which gave impression car was secure. Noticed they had a small bar on my way in but unfortunately did not get to try it. Also had free wifi. Rooms seem well sound insulated (when windows clsoed) as I didn't hear any other hotel guests.

Was quite warm so had window open which let in a bit of street noise, nothing major as Mrs & kids went stright to sleep. 4 mosquitos in room & I only managed to track & swat 3

"This is the fourth Calais hotel I have stayed in, and is now my first choice" (107181998)

Central location yet surprisingly quiet (apart from the occassional train), easy parking, friendly and pleasent ambience to the building, UK TV channels on flat screen, clean.

The bathroom was challenging! There was a shower curtain but knowhere to hang the shower, and the toilet was pointing into a wall so we had to get used to sitting sideways. I have come to expect these problems in French hotels!

"I've stayed in nicer hotels for the same price. But if you need a location near the station, it is good value." (108008903)

Very clean. Good TV. Good location. Nice bar.

Very small. Bath only, no shower. Light did not work in bathroom, and we were not offered another room instead - had to use a small flashlight. Noise at night from the street below meant disturbed sleep. No restaurant, but there is one nearby.

The staff were very helpfull and most sincere, it was only a short walk to the centre without the need to reside there. I did travel by motorcycle and this was left outside with no problem. Would be happy to stay again.

Convenient location for restaurants and safe garage for car

Hotel restaurant closed so no evening meal. Breakfast still available.

The room was clean and quiet. We had a good night's sleep.

There was a shower tap over the bath, but no shower curtain. As I like showers the lack of a curtian was disappointing

Hotel very good however I think when I next go, I would upgrade to a slightly higher spec room..." (97513906)

good location, staff very good and helpfull..

there could do with being a holder for the shower head and little more room in the toilet area..

  • 4/10 Anonymous ( Group of adult friends)

"The railway station next to the hotel should have been mentioned in the online details and pictures of the bedrooms should be shown, so that people are aware how small they are." (99519985)

The bar was pleasant and the breakfast was nice.

The bedrooms were tiny and there was no mirror in the bedroom to put your makeup on. If you are taller that 5'8, you cannot sit on the loo without your knees up on the wall. The bathroom had inadequate lighting and there was a hand held shower only. The decor was dated and the whole room felt cramped and unpleasant.
