The Rutland Hotel, hotel in Douglas

On the scenic Queens Promenade, The Rutland Hotel is an elegant building on the Isle of Man.

Handy for the ferry and for traveling to other towns. The three day travel pass is a great idea and it would have been good to get that information from staff and maybe some leaflets about places of interest. It was good having the lift. Nice clean friendly hotel. Plenty of choice at breakfast . Only dined in once but nice carvery. Many hotels now have the reuse of towels which makes a lot of sense.

Plenty to see and do, including in evenings (theatre, cinema, music). Good transport links (ferries, airport, around the island). Easy to get around in the town. Enjoyed the beach and promenade, and quayside. Nice places to eat - friendly and welcoming.

I was in Douglas for business. I spent an afternoon walking the town and was quickly bored. I used the cinema one evening. The girls at reception were charming and the cinema had a nice feel to it.

Douglas is lovely, it is clean and we loved wander8ng around the streets. Good signage to find your way around but also nice.to get lost for a while. We walked around Douglas and used the buses, steam.and electric trains to get around the island. We had fish and chips while walking along the sea front and ate small plates at Frank Matchams. Loed it

We know the Isle of Man very well and although Douglas has suffered through the current financial crisis, it is still a good city to visit. The museum is free and very informative. The tour of the government building likewise. It is easy to get around the city and buses to other parts of the island are plentiful. There is a range of restaurants to suit every pocket and we also cane home with Isle of Man kippers. People are friendly, including the lovely staff at the Hydro. I would always encourage visitors to make Douglas a base and travel all over the Island. Peel, Ramsey and Castletown all are worth a visit and offer differing aspects of the Island.

Douglas is a seaside town with most places in close proximity to each other; the ferry terminal and Tourists Information Centre, the shops, cafés, pubs, banks, museum, and the two seafront theatres. The Villa Marina is a large theatre and cinema. The Gaiety Theatre is a smaller and most charming old theatre. Further down the Seafront is The Palace Cinema. I enjoyed a good film there. Comfortable seats. There a nice chippies around the town. The bus route Douglas to Ramsey along the coast road has stunning views. The other main towns are quick and easy to get to on bus, and the airport too. That's just half hour away.

Lisa and Paul were super warm and friendly and helpful. Really a delightful hotel with cosy, comfortable and clean rooms. No complaints at all. And the breakfast was lovely and hit the spot every morning. Great location, right on the Loch Promenade - stone's throw from the beach. There is also a full on high street right behind the hotel plus a number of bars open till late. Highly recommend and if I am back in Douglas again I would stay there again.

Steve and Maria were excellent hosts- warm and welcoming. The breakfast was excellent. The bed was incredibly comfortable and perfect after a long day of exploring. The B&B is well placed on the Promenade in an excellent location. Glenfaba is excellent value for money. This was my first visit to the Isle of Man but it won't be my last. Next time I'm on the island, I'll stay at Glenfaba again. Thank you for your hospitality, Steve and Maria!

We went with my inlays as its been 53 years since they have been back to the Isle of man. The hotel treated us really well. Nothing was a bother to them. All staff always say hello. Breakfast was lovely we never had lunch or dinner. Little extras ordered drinks at night and got a bowl of crisps. Little touch goes song way. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would definitely come back again.

The location was ideal, beautiful property and preserved period features. If you want a modern look , this isn't for you but if you are in isle of man, this is what you should book as the property has all the plus points you need. Right on the promenade and close to trams and bus station. Food was delicious and plenty of restaurants and shops nearby.

Classic hotel. Very personable and friendly staff. Made one feel at home. Breakfast was eggs, toast, beans, cereal, tea/coffee, juice and individually served and cooked. Quite good. Hotel hasn't been refurbished in years, which gives it an old fashioned slow down type look. Room was expertly made up every day. I very much enjoyed my stay here.
