Breakfast was delicious and Julia was very kind and helpful. Beautiful old building in a quiet side street but within walking distance of the town center. We had a spacious family room which worked well for us and our three young children. We really enjoyed our stay!

Warm cozy room with tea facilities and bathroom...just needed a bath mat from out of the shower and the room cleaning a bit better, but it was all good for 2 nights.

Message regarding where property was located was only sent at 2:55 when we were due to check in at 3pm. Once we had these access was straight forward. However we did not have phone access until about 3.30 so went to funeral directors next door! They had no idea where property was.
Original instructions postcode sent us to the funeral directors at the back of the property!!

Totnes is a beautiful town, very quirky and lots of interesting back streets to explore with cobbled paving and gorgeous old buildings. The main street is very special and full of lovely little independent gift shops, cafes etc. I have been here several times over the years and am always keen to return.

Totnes is a lovely place to visit for a short stay or mini break. We loved the variety of shops in the town which had a lovely vibe. The weekend market was fantastic! We also loved the sustainability factor! Being on the river meant there were also lots of lovely places to explore as well as the opportunity to take a delightful boat trip to Dartmouth! Totnes makes a great base from which to explore other areas like aTorquay, Paignton, Brixham and Dartmouth. There are good transport links so if you don’t drive, it’s not an issue! Would definitely visit Totnes again! :-)

Totnes is one of those places that once visited you know you will return to. It's located on a river that creates a sense of horizontal flow at the bottom of the town. Crossing the bridge towards the town centre, looking up, you may feel a little faint that the main shopping street requires quite a hike to the top of the street. But don't be larmed1 The way to do it is to zig-zag, lacing from one interesting shop to the next. Especially, explore the numerous charity shops for branded shirts and leather jackets presumably gifted by upmarket locals. When you finally get towards the top of the street you will find lovely cafes and restaurants serving delicious local foods. We decided to take away delicious vegetarian food from Seeds, and sit in the little green park, just off the nearby square.

Only visited the Steamer Quay.
Only visited the Steamer Quay. The parking payment options were crap and not working causing a backlog. The Cafe next to the Booking office was excellent and the Boss allowed me to park as I could not obtain a Parking Ticket. The Dartmouth Boat trip is good.

A good spot for an active vacation 4-7 days.
A good spot for an active vacation 4-7 days. Lots of outdoor possibilities, fresh air, good food and friendly people. Local bicycle rental would be nice. Totnes is also a kind of place where a language school for adults might be a success.
Great place to stay just outside Totnes. Staverton is in beautiful countryside with amazing walks down to the river Dart and into the Dartington Estate. room was good with a fab bathroom with a freestanding bath. The bar area and restaurant were spacious and cozy and all of the food we had was excellent. Best of all we’re the staff, particularly Charlotte and Victoria, who provided the very best service making us and our dog Lola very welcome. A great place.
Lovely room with lovely hosts and a delicious, full breakfast. Really, couldn't have asked for more in a stay. The room was close to the town centre, but afield just enough so that it was very, very quiet and removed from the noisy bustle of the High Street. (I actually moved to the Old Forge from another hotel in town, which was quite noisy -- traffic, street noise, etc). Looking forward to another stay at The Old Forge.
Lovely room a little on the small side but very comfortable and with all that we required.
Bathroom spacious and a well appointed with a good shower in a decent sized cubicle(Better than most hotels)
All meals including breakfast were very good and the restaurant menu excellent. Based around locally sourced products generous portions all beautifully cooked and all at a very competitive price.
An excellent place to stay, lovely food, very clean room with everything you could need. Dog friendly. Room was nice and quiet, beds were very comfortable. Very welcoming hosts and will be booking again. Ideal for visiting the area and seeing family. This was my first night away with kids since losing my husband so was very anxious, I needn’t have worried, I would happily stay here on my own.
There were some lovely touches. Tea, coffee and milk on arrival was great. Also a bottle of Prosecco which was a lovely treat.
Location is fantastic right at the top of the high street in Totnes.
Flat was clear, bright and spacious.
We did not meet the hosts (but we could have done if we knocked on their door) however they just left us to it which was nice.
Compact and perfectly planned space; even had a sweet outside decked part. Really thoughtful tea/coffee and a little unexpected gift ..above and beyond even with a little flower and toiletries.
Only 5 minute walk from Totnes centre, easy to find and parking on the drive. Would definitely book again and recommend.
Food in the restaurant was amazing! Organic delicious ingredients, cooked with real care and love.
The way the hotel has been renovated is really original and gave us ideas for our own house designs!
Wish more places were this brave in their aim to be sustainable and eco-conscious.
If you want to stay in Totnes this hotel at the bottom of the town is steeped in its history and easy access to the town and other locations in south Devon. The staff are friendly and the food is great ( we had the breakfast and our dinner there). I would define stay there again.
A beautiful cottage with a pretty garden . The location is ideal for Totnes and visiting South Devon. It was very clean , beautifully equipped and everything provided to ensure a comfortable holiday. The owners really have thought of everything . Thank you for the welcome pack .
Charming inn above the Steam Packet pub with very friendly staff! Comfortable, well-appointed rooms and a perfect location in Totnes, close to both shops and woodland. I really enjoyed my stay here and would highly recommend!
Such a cosy welcoming place - charming staff, comfortable stylish rooms and really excellent food. Old world charm just up the road from Totnes, one of my favourite towns. Delicious breakfast too!
A clean and comfortable apartment with views over Totnes from the outside roof top area. The large living area meant it felt very spacious which more than made up for the size of the bedroom.
beautiful studio tastefully and artistically decorated. lovely and warm, good facilities, brilliant location in the heart of Totnes with parking. hosts were very helpful and friendly
Excellent location. Great space for 6 friends. Walking distance to Totnes town. Comfortable house designed well, sofa seating for everyone and great size dining table.
