And the environment just as needed, calm, serene and peaceful.

Minakami
Boasting hot spring baths in a spectacular outdoor setting by Takaragawa River, Japanese-style hotel Takaragawa Onsen Osenkaku is a 10-minute drive from Hodaigi Ski Resort. It offers free Wi-Fi at the lobby and a free station transfer. We came here specifically for the onsen experience. And yes, it was the most wonderful experience for me of coming to Japan. It was snowing and we bathed in the onsen and I was very thankful for the whole experience of just being able to witness snow falling while my body bathed in that wonderful onsen. Then there's the food, the food is amazing! I have never eaten Japanese food like that. The taste and the combination of flavors just really left us in awe. It was a really nice meal and we appreciate that the dining tables were separated from each guest which made the whole setting a bit more private. Then there's the rooms. You have this huge room that I think would be better if we had a bigger family, but I do love that it has this area where you can view the river and the snow and just drink tea. The heater worked wonderfully and we didn't feel cold at all. I do love that it is also full tatami in the hotel and we walked around in assigned slippers throughout the place. And if you're wondering, yes they do provide the yukata and bathing clothes.

The onsen was amazing! Different temperatures to move between and one very warm spot, nice! Beautiful surrounding, like an anime fairytale! Pretty yukatas! Nice room with good view and warm tatami floor! The futon was warm and the blanket super fluffy!! The gift shop clerk was so nice and helpful, helped me to buy the right size yukata and color! Simple explanation from station to shuttlebus by photos and also good detailed explanation of facility at check-in.
Traditional ryokan with great onsen in secluded nature area (mixed onsen; Yukata and special bathing suites provided). Great place for relaxation. Very attentive (English speaking) staff and delicious food. Free transportation from/to train station works well.
The Onsen was gorgeous, clean and well organised with an efficient and easy to understand system. The staff was exceptionally friendly, welcoming and helpful, and spoke English very very well. The rooms were beautiful and super warm (even while there in the snow you did not have to worry about rugging up). I loved the classic wooden ryokan set-up and tatami floors with futons. Futons were also made for you each night while you were out, and packed up for you after you left in the morning.
Beautiful views, warm welcome, comfortable futon, and overall nice japanese style room. I loved the yukata that we received, and I was extremely happy with the onsen. The lobby area is very nice, i appreciated that we could leave the luggage there. The area itself is also very enjoyable and walkable, and the accommodation is also close to the station.
A true Japanse ryokan experience. Traditional Japanse customs: indoor slippers, onsen, futon floor beds, Japanse food only, great & friendly hospitality and transport to train station services. All highlight within walkable distance.
We stayed for total of 2 nights in this beautiful Ryokan in Minakami, food was elaborately prepared and beautiful. the 2 onsen baths available were well maintained and comfortable. In terms of hospitality, the staff were especially accommodating - they even ferried us to local train station from door to door. futon beds were thick and comfortable, amenities were also plentiful and they were more than willing to provide extra at your request. One of the most value for money experiences :)
Location is close to the temples. Yukatas provided are vary comfortable. Onsen was fun. Somehow, sleep on Futons was best in the entire trip.
We loved this place! Large tatami room with futon beds (note that you will have to make your bed which is common in Japan). The common areas are wonderful with many places to seat and relax, or work (desks and tables). The shared kitchen was large and super clean with everything you need to cook. The onsite Onsen was fantastic! One indoor Onsen and one outside, which was amazing! Staff was nice and friendly.
Onsen was moderately sized with an outdoor component containing amazing sulphuric hot spring water. Service and dinner was also impeccable, never felt so welcomed at a ryokan before. Would definitely recommend for couples!
